LISTEN

A unique harmonic set of large antique singing bowls ringing with fundamental tones of A, C#, E, F, A. This five bowl combination of very fine quality singing bowls has a powerful meditative tone and wonderful soothing vibration.

It is a nice A major tuning with a slightly minor sound of the F, making it an A7 chord with an extra A providing excellent resolution.

The sounds really fill the air and blend with amazing beauty. It is impossible to describe the wonderful effects of such a set. Several large antique singing bowls singing together provides an amazing experience. The angelic choir is beyond beautiful - it's truly transformational.

These 5 bowls were combined not only for their amazing tone but for their sequential sizes, matching style and similar vibrational qualities that make them an excellent combination.

A: This very large 12" antique gives you a gorgeous deep tone and stunning vibration you can really feel. One of my special deep antiques, this is one of the very best deep sounding bowls. The large size and nice antique appearance make it a real standout.

C#: A top, top quality antiques made as perfectly as they come. This type mark the very height of craftsmanship, with perfect symmetry, deep engravings, excellent color and the very best smooth vibration and harmonious tone. Truly exceptional quality.

E: Equal to the C#, the three bowls in the middle of this set are beyond compare. It is among the very best singing bowls ever made.

F: Very similar to the C# and E, these bowls were specially matched for their stunning similarity. This F bowl plays with a slight rattle which you may be able to detect in the recording. It is very slight and will not get worse - many antiques have a slight rattle, indicating a crack somewhere on the surface which I cannot visually find. The price has been additionally reduced for this condition problem.

A: Matching the low tone in pitch, this beautiful early antique is the one bowl in the set that is different stylistically. It is an older piece with the earlier folded construction and a wonderful strong bell tone. I included it in this set because the tone matches so beautifully and provides an excellent completion to the tone.

Tune In to the 1,000-Year-Old Metalworking Tradition

The first singing bowls were made around the 11th century, during one of the high periods of Buddhism in Nepal. The best examples coincide with high periods of culture, which is part of how I determine their age. The singing bowls are related to bowls from ancient Persia and Khorosan. Later forms are also related to similar bowls from Southeast Asia. Singing bowls spread through Asia over the last few hundred years. Antique singing bowls were crafted with an ancient process called annealing, where a bronze disc is repeatedly heated, cooled and hammered until the desired form is acheived. The ability for bronze to be reworked repeatedly allowed the artisans to craft these truly stunning forms. The durability of this fine bronze material has allowed them to endure for so long. Kept in good condition, they will last for another thousand years.
