The Special Thick Collection

The Heaviest Small & Medium Bowls

Extra Thick

Thicker, Heavier, louder

The Special Thick singing bowls are the heaviest thado bati, which means "straight sided bowl" in Nepali. These small and medium sized singing bowls are the thickest ever made, some more than half an inch thick at the rim. The extra metal gives them a strong bell-like tone, often with surprisingly lively harmonic overtones. This is another type of early singing bowl, made prior to the 16th century and among the oldest and most special singing bowls ever made. Similar to the Special Engraved bowls, they may have been made by the same workshop at a later date. Listen with headphones to hear the real sounds.
